Olympic Football 2012 Draw
Well what an incredible last two weeks of sport. I’m sure even people who doubted whether Britain would host a successful Olympic games will have been drawn in by the sheer drama and excitement of what unfolded, in particular during that second week of the games. And successful it certainly was, not just with the amazing medal haul – 29 Golds, 17 Silvers and 19 Bronze, 65 medals in total, but also how smoothly it ran, the wonderful volunteers and how much pride and happiness it brought to the nation. A very good time for not just Team GB but GB itself. The only downside is that it leaves a great big hole in your after work TV viewing.
Which brings us nicely to the Varsity Olympic Football 2012 Draw. The tension has been mounting and finally the waiting is over. The eventual winners of the women’s competition was Team USA. We had 11 successful entrants and the final winner was Lynn Eley from Simply Cartons. Quite fitting that a lady won the women’s side of the draw. Upon hearing of her win Lynn said “I’ve not won have I – I’ve never won anything”. Lynn was over the moon about her win and revealed that the competition had generated a lot of office banter with her fellow colleagues who had also entered.
The winners of the mens competition was Mexico, and sadly no one had Mexico in the draw. However, in the true Olympic spirit of it’s not the winning, it’s the taking part, we decided to run the draw for those entrants that chose the runners up Brazil. For this we had 14 entrants and the final name drawn out was Rory Faulkner from Manchester Print. Upon hearing of his success Rory initially was lost for words, and then said some that we cannot print. He then went on to say “I’m thrilled to bits. Thank you to Varsity, the number one for packaging board in the UK”, which was very kind of him.
Many thanks to all those who took the time to enter our competition and well done to the winners who each receive an iPOD Nano.
